About Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, yet powerful form of energy healing that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and enhances the body’s natural healing abilities. Rei (universal) and Ki (life force energy), harnesses the flow of universal energy to balance the body’s energy centres, or chakras, leading to improved physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Reiki is an ancient technique used for stress reduction and relaxation, and has been shown to have several benefits for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that involves the practitioner gently placing their hands on or near the body.
Reiki was developed in the late 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese scholar, and spiritual teacher. During a deep spiritual experience on Mount Kurama, Dr Usui received the knowledge and ability to channel the Usui Reiki System, which has been passed down through generations of practitioners worldwide. I have been taught Reiki by a Reiki Master/Teacher certified in Usui Shiki Ryoho, which is the traditional Reiki Healing System. My Reiki teacher has certified 11th generation lineage to Dr Mikao Usui. The core theory behind Usui Shiki Ryoho is that all living beings are connected by universal life force energy, this energy flows through us, and when it is balanced, it promotes physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. However, blockages or imbalances in this energy can lead to discomfort, stress or illness. As a certified Usui Reiki Practitioner, I can channel Reiki energy, that can help remove these blockages, restore balance, and activate the body’s natural healing process.
Why choose Reiki
Choosing Usui Reiki connects you directly to the foundational practices and teachings of Reiki, ensuring that you experience the purest form of this holistic energy healing method. Reiki emphasises the integration of mind, body and spirit. It’s not just about treating physical symptoms, but also about fostering spiritual growth, emotional balance, and overall well-being. Usui Reiki has been practiced for over a century making it a time tested and reliable healing modality. The structured approach to Reiki using hand positions and treatment techniques, provides a consistent and effective healing experience. When choosing a Reiki Practitioner, it is important to understand their credentials and their Reiki journey. Moreover, Reiki is a deeply personal and energetic experience. It is essential to feel comfortable and connected with your practitioner. Trust your intuition and go where you feel guided. Ethical practices are important to me, I will ensure confidentiality, respect your boundaries, and never make any medical diagnosis. As a professional Reiki Practitioner, my work is complementary to traditional medicine, not a replacement. I am always open to have a conversation before your first session to answer any questions you may have to ensure you receive the most authentic and effective healing experience possible.

Reiki Treatments
In person Reiki treatment
What happens during a Reiki treatment?
My commitment is to support you by providing a safe, welcoming and peaceful space to relax in, so that you may receive the beautiful Reiki energy. In person treatments start with an explanation of what to expect and a brief medical history will be taken to ensure safety. There is no need to remove any clothing, Reiki transcends through clothes and blankets that are in situ. There are pre-determined hand positions that I will follow, some using gentle touch (head, legs) and others non-touch over the trunk. You may feel tingling, heat/coolness or throbbing at various parts of the treatment. Some clients laugh or even have tears. You may see colours or light, many people feel sleepy and can even drift off during a Reiki treatment, this is all perfectly normal, everyone feels or senses Reiki differently. The treatment lasts approximately one hour. Post treatment you should feel relaxed, it’s advisable to drink plenty of water and not do anything strenuous for the rest of the day. Reiki can be quite emotional for some people as parts of you are unblocked to bring you back to balance. Some people may experience a slight headache for a short duration.
How many treatments will I need?
This will be based on individual need. Healing is a process and takes time, acute problems can resolve very quickly, whilst chronic problems take longer to feel the full benefit. In any event there should be some benefit after the first session. We can discuss your needs at your first session and I may suggest a course of treatments, but ultimately the choice is yours about what feels right for you, there is no pressure from me.

Distance Reiki
Distance Reiki is an effective method for receiving the energy, and is particularly useful for people that can’t or don’t want a hands on treatment. By not being physically present, you will not be hindering your experience during a healing session, as Reiki teaches us that we are all connected and part of a larger whole and are not bound by distance. So the healing benefits can be experienced even if the recipient is miles away. Distance Reiki maybe useful for yourself or a loved one who can’t make an in-person session. I will ordinarily have a brief chat before and after the treatment, although we can communicate by text if that is your preference. Please contact me to find out more.
